A lot has changed, but small links remain. How we farm and socialise as a community is increasingly changing. Today, even with technology, we seem to be actively trying to reconnect with each other on a fundamental level, holding on to old traditions while coming to terms with the new.

Scottish islands still hold a sense of community, which is evident today and is often seen through how we work the land. Through recent inspiration from UistFilm’s freshly digitised archive 8mm film from the FAODAIL | FOUND Outer Hebrides Archive Film project, artist Yasmin Davidson has compiled inspiration from old film still images alongside her modern-day life images. Visually preserving the films through painting has developed into a need to treasure the history of our islands.
